A Medusa move-up isn’t just about taking the beads out and putting them back in. How you handle the natural hair during maintenance matters.

✨ Remove the beads properly using the correct tools and technique. Never pull, tug or force them out.

✨ Brush out the shedding gently. Start with the Medusa No-Fuss Brush. The softer, wider bristles act as a pre-detangler, loosening the natural shedding without unnecessarily pulling on the hair.

✨ Refine with your fine-tooth comb. Once the No-Fuss Brush has done the heavy lifting, go in and gently remove any small tangles or remaining shed hairs.

✨ RESECTION. This one is so important. You don’t want to put the exact same hairs right back into another bead. Resectioning gives the hairs that were previously inside the bead a break and redistributes the weight onto a fresh section of hair.

Your certification is still valid. ❤️

The new one-on-one Zoom coaching call is simply an added benefit for our current virtual certification students. It’s there for anyone who wants extra guidance, wants to ask questions, or would like personalized feedback on their install.

There is absolutely no requirement for our previously certified stylists to schedule one.

One of the biggest mistakes we see? Removing beads the wrong way. 👀

We have two tools for bead removal, and each has a purpose:

✨ Regular Pliers – These have notching grooves designed to gently squeeze the bead back into its original round shape so it slides right off the hair.

✨ Bead Removal Tool – Specifically designed to open the bead quickly and efficiently with minimal effort.

🚫 Never crush, twist, or yank the bead off. If the bead doesn’t slide easily after opening, it isn’t open enough. Forcing it can cause unnecessary stress on the hair.

A proper removal should be smooth, controlled, and gentle. Healthy installs start with healthy removals—and that’s exactly what we teach inside ETERNA Certification.
