Hey Kids!
Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 18
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Come visit the Children's Room and make your own flag using colorful paper and craft supplies. Show your red, white, and blue spirit or create your own unique design. All supplies provided.
Summer will be here really soon and with it comes the desire to travel or do something new (yay!) but all of that can cost money (boo!). Things can be expensive, but with your Thayer Public Library card (always free) you can get a TON of entertainment (also for free!)
If you're looking to get off your screens this summer, we have a TON of books for you to try. Wanting to travel with your phone but bring a TON of books with you? Try ebooks & eaudiobooks on Libby or Hoopla! Don't have the book on our shelves that you wanted? Physically or digitally, place a hold and we'll email you when it's ready for pickup! (If it's new, Braintree residents get pulled to the top of the holds list for the first 6 months!)
Looking to explore someplace new? We also offer discounted museum passes to places like the the Boston Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium, to summer reading books (for fun AND for school).
We also have a lot of things (like launchpads, a telescope, music CDs, and robots!) to play with- for kids, teens, AND adults.
For those looking to nix their streaming subscriptions for the summer, we also have DVDs and TV series to borrow (and a DVD player to play them, if you don't have one) in addition to our own free streaming service Kanopy- again, all borrowable with your library card.
If you're looking to play a game with us this summer, we are offering summer reading for all ages again (kids, teens, & adults) and there are a bunch of prizes we're giving away! Play on the go with the Beanstack app OR do device free and grab a review sheet when you stop in to visit!
We hope to see you this summer!

When you come to visit the library this week (or in the upcoming weeks) starting today we're making another technical change. This one is a lot smaller though, we promise!
Starting Monday June 1st, when you use any self checkout you'll be asked to scan the item barcodes (instead of placing them as a stack on the tray). That's it! That's the change. Maybe some of you were still doing this, but we thought we'd let everyone know.
1. scan (or enter) your library card
2. scan the item(s) barcode
3. chose your receipt option
4. and (hopefully) enjoy your checkouts!
We're switching back from RFID tags to scanning barcodes for two reasons. The first is that it's easier for the new library system (by scanning each barcode, we ensure items are checking out correctly and therefore going home with you) and the second is that RFID tags were getting a little pricey.
