🎁 Christmas Gifts for Under the Tree 🎁
During our Holiday Care & Comfort for Heroes event, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be sharing 100+ brand-new Christmas gifts to help make Christmas morning brighter for our military community.
Military families, veterans, and Active Duty are invited to stop by and pick up a gift for under the tree. Gifts are available first come, first-served basis.

Today is National Purple Heart Day, and I want to take a moment to honor my grandfather, Richard Joseph Stevens. He’s the “Stevens” in the Townsend Stevens Veteran Residence-The HUB. He earned his Purple Heart on the USS William D. Porter during World War II.

The story he used to tell our family was that he saw the whites of a kamikaze pilot’s eyes right before it crashed into the destroyer. The explosion threw him up in the air, and somehow he survived.

He didn’t actually receive his Purple Heart until almost 40 years later. One of his 9 children fought to make sure he finally got it. I remember being at the ceremony as a kid, and it stuck with me.

Today, I carry his legacy in everything we do at The Hub. And on Purple Heart Day, we honor all who’ve sacrificed for this country.
