Did you know that textiles were an expensive commodity during the Renaissance?

Cloth went through a cycle of uses, with nothing being discarded from garment to garment then being used as rags and finally into paper. Our ancestors practiced sustainability out of necessity; buying new clothing was a luxury reserved only for upper echelons of society.

But we're taking a page out of that book and going back to our roots.The Bozeman Renaissance Festival is on a mission to decorate the festival without using any new materials, or at least as little as possible.

While this method is undeniably more labor-intensive, it allows us to keep huge amounts of textile waste out of our landfills while also allocating the money for decor to local sources.

Pictured below: we scored a pickup truck load full of fabric remnants that were taking up space in a garage. Most of these rolls are not useful for commercial purposes anymore, but they're perfect for our projects!

The Bozeman Public Library is ready to support all of your garb needs!

The moment has arrived!

The 2026 Bozeman Renaissance Festival vendor applications are now open for new vendors.

We'll share the link below but please take a moment to read the rest of the post before applying.

First, we have chosen to ban the use of AI as well as uncredited artworks from being sold at our festival. (We also promise not to use AI for advertising or social media posts ourselves...)This means that we will not accept vendors who are using AI generated images and texts as well as vendors selling artwork that is not either created by the vendor or produced with a licensed design. This will affect those who are selling stickers, journals, tumblers, etc.
