SCAM ALERT: The Montana Department of Justice's Office of Consumer Protection is warning Montanans of a new text message scam that falsely claims to be from an official government agency, alerting individuals to traffic violations.

As a reminder, law enforcement and government agencies do not send texts asking for money for unpaid tickets or toll road fees. Do not click on any links or scan the QR code.

🤠Montana State University will celebrate its national championship football team with a parade through downtown Bozeman and a celebration at Bobcat Stadium on Saturday, January 17.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Bobcat Athletic Complex, traveling north on South 11th Avenue to Main Street, east to Highland Boulevard, and west on Kagy Boulevard before returning to Bobcat Stadium. The procession will feature the football team and coaches, along with the Spirit of the West Marching Band, the Spirit Squad, the MSU rodeo team, and more.

Immediately following the parade, a celebration will take place at Bobcat Stadium beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m. Fans will hear remarks from MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello, MSU President Brock Tessman, head coach Brent Vigen, and members of the football team. The Spirit of the West will lead the crowd in the MSU fight song, and after the program, fans will have the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from the team. All events will be free and open to the public.

The celebration comes after the Bobcats’ dramatic 35–34 overtime victory over Illinois State on January 5 in Nashville, which secured MSU’s first football national championship since 1984!

Following the stadium rally, the excitement will continue with Cat-Griz basketball at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, where the women’s team will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men’s team will play at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear gold, purchase tickets in advance, and join in a full day of Bobcat pride.

This is encouraging! The weather in country has been the weirdest I can remember! Low snow makes us all nervous for potential wildfires in the summer so high moisture content is super important.

"You wouldn't know it from all the bare spots, but Bridger Bowl actually set a record for something called "water content" in December. A modest 64 inches of snowfall contained a whopping 9.05 inches of H2O. Compare that to the previous record of 9.04 inches in 1977 — which required nearly double the snow to achieve. The Bozeman-area hill saw 64.75 inches of snow fall this past month that contained 9.05 inches of water, according to information the Bridger Bowl ski patrol provided to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.

The old record for water content was set 48 years ago, in December 1977, the center noted in its New Year's Day post. Back then, Bridger collected 114 inches of much lighter snow containing 9.04 inches of water. The center noted southwest Montana is "fortunate to have relatively great snow coverage (especially compared to other parts of the country)," although noting "low elevation snow coverage has been limited due to warm weather and rain."
