When the mules that have worked for me for a lifetime reach the point where they can no longer go to the hills to do the hard work, I try to find a good retirement home for them. A place with good pasture, shelter and other equine company. I am particular with who I will give them away to. My good old mule Hercules went to a wonderful family in Nebraska. They have taken care of him for many years and were kind enough to send a picture I thought was worth sharing.

Got the last of my backcountry camps out.
This marks the end of the 2023 season… my 50th as a licensed Montana outfitter.
Half a century of wilderness expeditions, great adventures and treasured friendships with extraordinary human and equine characters.
This past summer and fall, conscious of my timeline, I have looked into the heavens and back down at the bountiful green earth,
and given thanks a hundred times for a life lived horseback in the unspoiled beauty of creations original masterpiece.
It has been a privilege !!
Spring 2021 Update:
We are open on a weather dependent basis. Reservations should be made no more than a few days before you want to ride.
Spring 2020 Updates -
We are currently closed because of Coronavirus restrictions.
We hope to be open sometime in mid-May.
