Mark Mundwiler had the gift of snap and pop and tweak. He was younger than us and better than us. On one of my janky 1/4 pipe creations here he pops an ollie back before many did them proper like that. He had double style. Riding style and his clothing! Corduroy pants and velour shirt with shoulder piping. And look at those locks! Rails copers and a send it attitude! An after school sesh before he had a car. 1980.

decided to not do the entire Freeride tour. He made time and jumped into the first ever FIS Freeride World Championships in Ordino - Arcalis Andorra. 3rd place was the result! So happy for you Michael and stoked you put USA on podium! Well done you stud!

We lost a real stoker when we lost the other day. I first saw lil Don at Skatercross flying like a bird over the "hip" between the 3rd and 4th bowl at Skatercross. He was maybe 11? years old. Nobody was doing ollies and rare were airs. But Don was floating around and flowing. Don was given the rare gift of incredible ability to accel at skating, moto, snowboarding and all. Wow he was good. And such a stoker! This photo has been up on the wall at the shop since 1993 when we opened. I took it in 1987 during one of the last sessions of my Eagle Rock ramp. Look close to make him out in the camo of the crowd. Just toying with that casual but huge tweaked FS air. A young heartily approves.
