Today is Melanoma Monday, the day we raise awareness about Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. 🧡

Do you know that Utah has the highest Melanoma incidence in the nation? Melanoma incidence in Utah is 80% higher than the national average!

But WHY?
- Utah’s majority population is fair-skinned, having less melanin so they are more likely to develop melanoma than those with more melanin in their skin
- Utah’s elevation is high (one of the highest states!), offering less ozone protection
- Utah is in the top 10 sunniest states in the nation.
- Utahns love their outdoor recreation!

What can you do?
- Sun protection, sun protection, sun protection! Wear daily sunscreen, hats, and sun protective clothing.
- Schedule annual skin cancer screenings with your dermatology provider.
- Check your skin every month at home and schedule an appointment if you notice moles that are suspicious.
