When I was able to finally get sober, about 2 nights in I started having convulsions and hallucinations from alcohol withdrawals.

I was convulsing and thought my old friend was trying to break into the house, and the scariest part was that I actually saw him. I was hallucinating.

I was hospitalized and went through medical detox. So if you’re DEEP in alcohol addiction and trying to get sober and notice some terrifying withdrawal symptoms, don’t hesitate - go to the hospital. It could save your life like it did mine.

The word “superpower” can seem so cliche, but honestly if you channel your addiction into positive things, it can take you to fuc*ing insane places!

Trust me, it’s how I got clean and continue to be 12 years later.

Addiction doesn’t go away, it has to move. For me it was skateboarding. Completely obsessed and got sponsored by Vans for 5+ years. Then it was college and design. Now it’s building businesses.

This is the greatest unlock for those in recovery. You just have to get past the first initial shock and healing and be around likeminded folks also pursuing new obsessions.
