1917 Russia - the last year Rachmaninoff spent there before emigrating first to Denmark, and then Sweden, and finally to the US in 1918. His Op. 39 Etudes were likely completed in 1916 and there are several favorites in this group batch. I arranged a couple of them for a Boulder Brass concert in 2011. This one - Allegro moderato, Tempo di marcia - is a clean up and rebrand today, with a halfway decent rendering using NOTE Performer.
