Boulder County AIDS Project is excited to announce that on July 7, 2026, Sarah Annecone returned to staff full-time as a Medical and Housing Case Manager!

Sarah began to volunteer at BCAP in 1991, soon after her brother Matthew died of AIDS-related illnesses. She came to BCAP seeking to heal in community, learn about HIV/AIDS, and support others. From 1993 through 2024, Sarah held various staff roles at BCAP: Education Coordinator, Diversity Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Development Director. While working at BCAP, Sarah earned her Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver.

After five years as Development Director, Sarah took a break from working to spend more time with her mother (now 96!), study Spanish, and travel. She volunteered with Intercambio and discovered a love for teaching English to adult immigrants. In her free time, Sarah enjoys discussing films with her adult son, Miles; dog sitting her friends’ pups; and riding her bike.

Since November 2025, she has worked part-time as an independent contractor supporting BCAP and has considered returning in a new capacity. Sarah shared, “I feel I have more to offer in support of BCAP’s mission. I am honored to be given the opportunity to learn a new role and work directly with BCAP clients who are living with HIV.”

Boulder County AIDS Project is very excited to announce that Emily Draving joined BCAP staff as Care Services Director today, July 6, 2026!

Born and raised in Colorado and a CU Boulder alumnus, Emily holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Her professional experience includes human services and technology, spanning community crisis management at Boulder County Housing and Human Services and technical support and software program management.

Returning to her social work roots as BCAP's Care Services Director is a deliberate and exciting choice for Emily, who is honored to bring her operational leadership and clinical expertise to the mission she loves.

As a BCAP volunteer since 2019, Emily has enjoyed supporting BCAP's Jack Hodges Food Pantry to help keep it well-stocked with nutritious options from Community Food Share. Emily also enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, reading comic books, and playing board/video games.

Boulder County AIDS Project is very happy to announce that Yvonne Long joined BCAP staff as Donor Relations Manager on June 29, 2026!

Yvonne brings more than 30 years of experience in relationship building, customer service, and management. For the past 19 years, she has worked at Elevations Credit Union, including as a Senior Branch Manager and mentor for new employees. She especially enjoys public speaking and connecting with others through storytelling.

Yvonne is passionate about building trust and leading with compassion. Her personal experience with friends living with HIV led her to volunteer with BCAP, where she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of the mission. Yvonne is excited to join BCAP staff and contribute to work that has long been meaningful to her.

In her personal time, Yvonne enjoys martial arts (she is a multiple black belt!), traveling, art, plants, scary movies, and spending time with her husband, Bryn; her adult children, Seth and Tegan; and her dog, Zero.

This past Sunday, May 17th, BCAP and the Interfaith AIDS Coalition (IAC) honored those we have lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic at the annual Candlelight Vigil. This event was one of thousands held around the world on Sunday! AS BCAP, the IAC, and vigil attendees commemorated loved ones near and far, 9News documented the experience.

Boulder memorial honors AIDS victims, pushes for additional education and resources At Boulder’s AIDS memorial, community members honored the lives lost and emphasized the need for sustained HIV support and health resources.

We invite you to join us this Sunday, May 17, as the Interfaith AIDS Coalition and Boulder County AIDS Project co-host a local in-person event as part of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, remembering people living with HIV. The theme for this year's event is "Legacy: Remember. Advance. Act."

Participants are invited to arrive at the covered porch of the First United Methodist Church, located at 1421 Spruce Street, Boulder 80302, at the new start time of 3 p.m. The program will begin shortly after 3:15 p.m.

BCAP is excited to announce that Erick Monroy has joined BCAP staff in the role of Atlas Program Prevention Services Coordinator!

Erick Monroy was born and raised in Silt, Colorado, a rural town near Glenwood Springs, where his family lives and runs El Sazon de Jalisco, a food truck specializing in Mexican cuisine known for its churros! Founder of El Sazon de Jalisco, Erick and his family recently received Best Local Food Truck and Best Local Taco by Glenwood Springs Post Independent.

Erick is a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder with a B.S. in Accounting and Information Management. With community at the forefront of his life, he held several leadership positions in community work, including President of the Latine Student Alliance and Program Manager of Latino Professional Alliance, at CU Boulder.

Erick enjoys spending time outdoors and cooking, especially some handmade tortillas. Erick is super excited to join BCAP staff, provide Prevention Services and coordinate Atlas, and be in service of our mission.
