Amazing sunrise this morning!

What a fabulous week in Maine! Why did I wait this long? My first time in Maine but won’t be my last! I photographed a conference in Portland then wandered up the coast for a few amazing days!

If you see a strange woman out standing in the corn with a camera in Kalamazoo, Michigan this week - it could be me. Just mesmerized by the corn's beauty, colors, patterns and textures in this peak corn season! And a shout out to the beautiful aisles at Wedel's and their openness to me hanging out there with my camera!

It has been an absolutely beautiful and wet spring and summer. In between people shoots I have been doing macro flower photography - some call it an obsession. The flower details that my Nikkor macro lens can get absolutely inspires me! Will share more here but this is yesterday's pink hydrangea at Wedel's Garden Center in Kalamazoo. And another perk? They have a mister right above the hydrangeas that keep me cool and they encourage customers to linger! Thank you Wedel's!

Really loving my personal photography these days. Doing more up close macro work and photographing flowers. Getting a little work with landscape architects and landscapers as it's such a lush green summer.

While my macro lens is out, I tried some close work with other objects, including these four little decorative balls, photographed on a mirror. I spent $9 at Art Parts Creative Reuse Center here in Boulder a second hand arts store and have had a ton of fun with an old mirror, four 25 cent balls, and a couple yards of red velvety material for a backdrop. I highly recommend Art Parts Creative Reuse Center if you want to get creative! They do take used art supplies but check the list of accepted materials first before you go.

Still photographing flowers in this magnificent early summer season. This week I have run across a few Campanulas and am learning that I love the color and look, but there are hundreds of different types that I cannot identify! This first is a clustered bellflower - Campanula Glomerata. Hoping someone can tell me what the others are? They were marked Campanula at farmer's market (The Fresh Herb Company)but I cannot determine which campanula?

What an amazing spring we have had here in Boulder. All the rain has certainly helped and I have gotten up close & personal with my macro lens around town! And learning a lot about the names! Allium still seems to be my favorite, but the blooms seem to be almost over so I'll need to move on to another plant blooming later. Have photographed more Allium in the last couple weeks than ever before. Did you know that there are more than 920 different varieties of the Allium plant? And some creepy ones!

Back from a 6 day yoga retreat at Prana del Mar in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur. Rather amazing place and company! Trying to keep the zen feeling afterwards!
