Designing a “forever home” looks different today.
It is less about a fixed idea and more about flexibility over time. How a home supports daily life now and adapts years from now without compromise.
Our latest blog explores how we approach long-term living through thoughtful planning, elevated main-level living, and what we call invisible accessibility. Design that performs without calling attention to itself.

Fire becomes the anchor across these homes,
a consistent element shaped by different materials, forms, and settings.
From contemporary patios to mountain retreats, each space is designed around the same idea, bringing people together. Thoughtful use of stone, wood, and light helps define these moments, creating places that extend beyond the walls and into how people gather and connect.

The Sopher Sparn team spent time giving back alongside , supporting the landscapes and waterways that shape the places we design.
As architects, we think a lot about how buildings meet the land. Taking part in efforts like this is a small but meaningful way to stay connected to the environments we’re working to protect.
Grateful to be out there with a team committed to making a positive impact on and off the drawing board.

Stair design does more than connect levels.
It becomes structure, a focal point, and a way of organizing movement through a space.
Across projects, each approach responds to context, material, and use. From minimal floating assemblies to more expressive steel and wood structures, the stair often defines how a space is experienced.
