Last month we saved the rim brake and said goodbye to this one-of-a-kind bike as it made its way to its new home — built like a true classic for our friend Don in Delaware. It pays homage to the original Merlin Extralight Road, the quintessential titanium road bike that doubtlessly defined an era. This modernized version is a rare sight today — traditional, sleek, built with purpose, and dressed in our brand new, Retro Modern finish.
Loaded With Legendary Italian Componentry:
- Campagnolo Record drivetrain – a legendary groupset that’s soon to be sunset, potentially making this one of the last of its breed
- Deda stem, handlebars, and seatpost – clean, balanced, and classically Italian
- Selle Italia saddle – a perfect finishing touch
Don’s bike was finished off with a Chris King headset — the gold standard of durability and excellence — and rolls on Astral Solstice alloy wheels, a nod to American craftsmanship. Made in the USA and built around White Industries hubs, this combo blends the lightweight feel of carbon with the everyday durability of alloy. Born from the minds of Rolf Dietrich, Brian Roddy, and Steve Cash, Astral’s classically-laced design pulls from decades of innovation.
Tipping the scales at just 16.5 lbs. fully built, this is a masterclass in minimalism — no frills, no flash — just pure riding magic.
Quintessential. Classic. Traditional.
A refined reminder of what titanium road bikes were — and still can be.
