CU Cleantech
CU Cleantech was launched in 2011 to build upon the University of Colorado's leadership in cleantech and renewable energy research and commercialization.
CU Cleantech is dedicated to promoting the University of Colorado's Cleantech growth through commercialization, student engagement, and industry collaborations. In the coming week you will likely hear more about the exciting new effort CU Boulder is launching—a crowd funding platform specifically for projects based at CU Boulder. This link will take you to an article in the Daily Camera about this effort: http://www.dailycamera.com/cu-news/ci_25639216/strength-numbers-cu-boulder-pilot-crowdfunding-small-projects. In addition, you can get more information on the program before the site is live: http://bit.ly/QG2000.
A project developed by CU Cleantech and the Tech Transfer Office was chosen to be included in this pilot launch of the CU-Boulder Crowdfunding initiative. The funds we raise will support a summer project where students will work with technologies in development at CU Boulder to explore possible market applications. For those of you in the know, this is a revamp of our Market Assessment Program—moving the process earlier to work with more researchers and with the goal to provide those researchers with information that will help them pursue various types of follow on funding.
We will participate in a launch party when the site “goes live”—Friday, May 2nd at 12 PM in ATLAS at CU Boulder. I hope many of you will be able to join us…and help us spread the word to your networks. There are many great reasons to get involved—supporting hands on training for CU Boulder students, playing a role in the commercialization process, and preparing CU Boulder projects to have impact in the clean tech industry. In addition, we are very excited to be part of this pilot for CU Boulder!
If you have any questions about our project or the crowd funding pilot, feel free to contact Candace directly.

Our last featured NVC finalist is:
1. Superior Ecotech, University of Colorado at Boulder
Superior Ecotech converts waste CO2 from fermentation at breweries and ethanol plants into algae-derived oils at half the cost of our competitors.
CU CNVC Superior Ecotech New Project
Our second to last featured NVC finalist for Friday's event is:
2. Memprint Dynamics, University of Colorado Boulder
Company Bio: Ultrafiltration Membranes are used in many industries for separating liquids and gases. Memprint Dynamics offers a unique treatment to these membranes using Nanoscale Imprinting (Nanoimprint lithography, NIL) to create a regular pattern on these membranes, and increase the amount of time which they can be used before they clog, or ‘foul’. Mitigating this problem is a huge area of interest, since it increases how well industrial processes can run. Memprint dynamics is unique since we do not chemically alter the membrane we are treating, so regulations limiting industries to implement them is minimal.
