Customer Spotlight: Kirstie

Growing up on the East Coast, Kirstie has always been drawn to the ocean. She earned her scuba certification three years ago at Utah's Homestead Crater before taking her first ocean dives in Key Largo. Since then, she has explored reefs across Curaçao, Cozumel, Key West, and the British Virgin Islands (BVIs). Living with Type 1 diabetes—a condition that barred individuals from certification until 2005—Kirstie never lets it slow her down, taking smart precautions like carrying glucose gels underwater.

Her most memorable adventure? A night dive in the BVIs where she was briefly separated from her guide and descended to 72 feet in the dark. The spine-tingling moment paid off with incredible sightings of cuttlefish, Southern stingrays, and tiny macro life.

Next up, Kirstie is heading to Wakatobi to explore its famous biodiversity, armed with a new magnifying glass for macro critters. We’re proud to have Kirstie in the Ocean First family and can't wait to hear about her next journey!
