The Botkins Fire Department would like to thank everyone who came out and supported our department. We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you!

Chief Glass

The Botkins Fire Department had its annual hose and ladder testing. I would to thank FireCatt out of Michigan. They did a great job and I recommend them for anyone wishing to have their hose and ladders tested by a certified company.

Tonight we had RIT training at the station. Crews had to searched and found the down firefighters and used their RIT training skills to find, provide him with air and extracted him to safety.

The Botkins Fire Department was kept busy this past week with the tornado hitting the southern part of our fire district and the high wind storms. Our department responded to 20 calls for service during those two events. The calls consisted of trees and lines down, buildings collapses or destroyed and semi over turned.

All of the above incidents were handled with the assisted of our neighboring Fire Departments, EMA, Law Enforcement and Power Companies. I would like to thank the Shelby County Sheriff Dispatchers for a job well done. I know from working in dispatch that they had their hands full and then some.

But after everything was over, we all returned home safe but exhausted.
