Can an end-to-end autologous CAR-T/TCR workflow deliver consistent performance when starting with cryopreserved leukopaks?

On August 25, in a new webinar with Cell & Gene and CARR Biosystems, Dr. Alireza Abazari and Robert Bilsky will present their latest findings from this study. 💡

🔎 Both will examine how key processing steps and operating parameters affect cell health, cell recovery, viability, consistency, and overall manufacturing reproducibility.

🔎 You will also discover practical approaches for developing reproducible, closed-system workflows that enhance manufacturing reliability, minimize risk, and support efficient scale-up from clinical to commercial production.

In a new Cell & Gene Therapy Insights interview, Editor Will Rich and Dr. Jason Acker discuss the history and evolution of biopreservation science for the cell and gene therapy field.🧬

❄️ Dr. Acker dives into how cryopreservation processes should evolve from being viewed as simply logistics to being recognized as a critical and strategic manufacturing step that directly determines the quality, cost, and clinical performance of these advanced therapies.

❄️ Rich and Dr. Acker also examine the cryobiology knowledge gap and how to bridge that in the CGT industry, and cutting-edge technologies that could change how these therapies are secured, stored, and distributed at the point of care.

Cell therapy’s real cost problem starts in the culture flask 07/21/2026

When we’ve discussed how to bring down the costs of cell therapy manufacturing with many of you, the conversation usually focuses on automation, facility design, and scaling up.
But what if there were downstream factors being overlooked that could significantly reduce costs? 💸

Dr. Steven Thompson suggests in Cell & Gene Therapy Review that looking earlier in the process at cytokine selection, quality, and container packaging can make a huge difference. ⚗️ 🧪

What should you consider?

💡 Cytokine type and choice affect therapeutic performance, as cytokines determine whether cells remain healthy, durable, and persistent; or if they become exhausted during manufacturing.

💡 Cell quality can matter more than cell quantity.

💡 Closed-system packaging and compatibility may reduce costs by minimizing the need for Grade A environments.

💡 Better control over cytokine inputs and handling could improve reliability and lower the cost per therapy.

Read the full scoop here:

Cell therapy’s real cost problem starts in the culture flask Some of the most actionable levers may sit earlier in the process than the industry has been looking.
