Ramsey Orta, the man behind the video of Eric Garner’s death has endured constant unjust acts while being imprisoned. Officers have attempted to poison his meals as an act of revenge for documenting police brutality. It’s incredibly astonishing that this has continued to go on for so long. Officers have literally told him it would be better for him to kill himself instead of being locked up.
There needs to be ongoing conversation about this to address these unjust acts. This is beyond inhumane. I’m so saddened to have learned that this is happening, but without news like this, the world would be unaware.

Apparently the man bit the officer, but that does not constitute to beatings. One of the officers, closes the door. What will happen to the poor man? Will he suffer from life threatening injuries? But more importantly, when will this stop??? This is an act of injustice. Police officers must be trained more appropriately to handle such occurrences.

The UDHR is a distinguished document that describes the basic human rights for all individuals around the world. Despite 48 countries signing, often times they are not reinforced and the rights are overlooked. Many people are also unaware that this document exists, which is a problem in-and-of itself.
