Hey Highlanders! Summer is coming to a close and we’re getting ready for a new season with a quick look back at highlights from the end of the 2026 school year…
In May, our spring season ended on a high note at the WA 1B State Track & Field Championships, where 11 Providence athletes competed in unusually stormy weather for much of the weekend.
🎉 After a back and forth duel in windy conditions, sophomore Clara Day took first place in girls pole vault and became our first ever female state champion! She followed up in the triple jump with an outstanding PR that placed her second overall.
🎉 Junior Kate Bredenberg also put down personal bests in both hurdle events, placing 6th in the 100m and 5th in the 300m amongst ever-increasing competition from across the state.
Congratulations to all of our athletes who displayed incredible sportsmanship and perseverance at the meet (swipe to the end to see all of the final results)!
In addition to Coaches Nate Morris and Erik Day, assistant coach and Providence dad Chad Kessens (hurdles) and pole vault coach Paul Engel generously gave their time and energy to provide specialized coaching and support. We are so grateful to God for providing these men, and for the many evidences of His kindness and encouragement seen widely in the track & field community! Soli Deo Gloria!

Last week, Freedom 250 and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) honored winners of their American Heroes Student Art Contest at a special awards ceremony in Washington D.C. After reviewing more than 1,000 submissions, judges recognized outstanding artists for their creativity, historical reflection, and civic pride as America commemorates its 250th anniversary.
We are proud to announce that rising 7th grader Catherine Li was among the honorees, winning first place in the Middle School Category in Washington State for her depiction of Albert Einstein and his enduring significance in our nation’s history. What a wonderful achievement and opportunity to represent Providence on the national stage! Congratulations, Catherine!
