What if some cavities could be treated without drilling or numbing? 🦷💛
Silver Diamine Fluoride, or SDF, is a liquid medication that can be brushed directly onto certain areas of tooth decay to help stop the cavity from progressing. It can be especially useful for very young children, anxious patients, or kids who may not yet be ready for traditional restorative treatment.
The application is quick and typically doesn’t require removing tooth structure.. One important thing for parents to know: SDF permanently darkens the decayed portion of the tooth.
SDF isn’t the right choice for every cavity, so Dr. Dhali considers your child’s age, comfort level, and the extent of decay before recommending it.

A baby tooth that comes out early can leave more than just a cute gap. 🦷💛
Baby teeth help hold space for the permanent teeth developing underneath. When a primary tooth is lost too soon because of decay, injury, or another concern, nearby teeth may begin to shift into that open space.
In some cases, Dr. Dhali may recommend a custom space maintainer to help preserve the room an adult tooth needs to come in properly.
Not every early tooth loss requires one, which is why an exam matters. We look at your child’s age, dental development, and the location of the missing tooth before recommending next steps.

Think mouthguards are just for football? 🏈🦷 Think again!
Dental injuries can happen during many activities kids love, including soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, hockey, lacrosse, skateboarding, and scootering.
⚽ Soccer: Contact with a player, ball, or the ground can injure teeth and lips.
🏀 Basketball: Elbows and unexpected collisions can lead to chipped or knocked-out teeth.
⚾ Baseball & Softball: Fast-moving balls, bats, and collisions can cause significant mouth injuries.
🏒 Hockey & Lacrosse: Sticks, equipment, and player contact can put teeth at risk.
🛹 Skateboarding & Scootering: Falls can injure the front teeth, lips, and jaw.
A properly fitting mouthguard helps cushion impacts and protect the teeth, lips, cheeks, and other oral tissues. Most importantly, choose one your child will comfortably and consistently wear.
💡 Parent tip: Make the mouthguard part of the uniform! Keep it with your child’s helmet, cleats, pads, or sports bag so remembering it becomes part of the routine.
