Happy Lei Day!

🌺 May 1st was declared Lei Day in Hawai’i in 1929, and has been celebrated every year since. Lei Day is in part a celebration of the *aloha spirit,* and embracing the aloha spirit means creating kindness, peace  and love throughout the world.

💜 If you want to help your own littles develop kindness, compassion, and empathy, this sponsored feature by Pacific Indigenous author Gerry Ebalaroza-Tunnell helps littles *Live Aloha* by encouraging them to remember the word aloha as an acronym:

A: Ask thoughtful questions to understand yourself and others.
L: Listen attentively to build your empathy and communication skills
O: Observe your surroundings with curiosity and awareness
H: let your Heart guide your decisions
A: Adapt to life’s changes with resilience and flexibility

🩷 Read this picture book to nurture the aloha spirit, and to encourage your littles to go out and make the world a brighter, more compassionate place.

Is your emotional scale aligned with your reality of responsibility?

We live in an era of constant distraction, often investing energy in things beyond our control. But real change starts within.

Try this Circles of Scale Exercise:
🔘 Control – List 5 things you have 100% control over.
🔘 Influence – List 5 things you can impact but don’t control.
🔘 Experience – List 5 things that affect you but have no control.

Now, consider the news, social feeds, and world events that consume your emotional energy. Where do they fit? Shift your focus to what you can control—because systems change when the hearts and minds within them change.

In the age of systems, outdated problem-solving doesn't cut it. To lead effectively, you must understand systems and your role within them. Ready to evolve? Let's get started.

Today, sharing the Guiding Principles of A.L.O.H.A. at Symetra in Bellevue, Washington, felt especially meaningful after election day. As we navigate the impact of choices and changes that shape our communities and our nation, A.L.O.H.A. serves as a potent reminder to connect deeply, listen openly, and approach each other with compassion, grace, and aloha. 💗

These values—Ask, Listen, Observe, Heart-focus, and Adapt—ground us in presence and mutual respect. In a world that can feel divided, A.L.O.H.A. calls us back to unity and understanding, helping us create a culture where each voice is honored and every person truly belongs. 🌸

Let’s continue to embody these principles, choosing love over fear and empathy over division. Together, we can create spaces that foster healing and resilience.

Beyond Blame and Shame: Healing the Wounds of Division for a Collective Future 10/14/2024

We often hear that hurt people hurt people—but how do we begin to heal? My latest blog explores how we can move beyond blaming and shaming.

The scars left by systems of division run deep, but collective healing is possible when we acknowledge the harm, work together, and commit to ensuring it never happens again. ❤

🌺 I don’t know who needs to hear this right now, but my heart feels called to share the Guiding Principles of A.L.O.H.A. 🌺

In times of uncertainty, change, or challenge, these simple yet powerful principles can guide us back to our true selves and help us navigate life with more grace and compassion.

Ask: Stay curious. In the face of fear or doubt, ask meaningful questions that open doors, rather than close them.

Listen: Tune in to what’s around and within you. Listen deeply to others, but also to your own heart’s wisdom.

Observe: Slow down and really see. There’s so much we miss when we rush through life. Observation reveals the patterns, the beauty, and the lessons.

Heart-Focus: Lead with love. It’s easy to get lost in our heads, but when we move from the heart, we create deeper connections and healing.

Adapt: Embrace flexibility. Life is ever-changing, and our ability to adapt with grace allows us to grow in ways we never imagined.

If you're facing uncertainty, fear, or transition right now, remember that A.L.O.H.A. can be your compass. These principles aren’t just words—they’re a way to live in harmony with yourself and the world around you.

Sending love and light to whoever needs this today. 💖

The Guiding Principles of A.L.O.H.A: Facing the Fear of Change with Grace | Humanitix 10/05/2024

One of the most incredible acts of grace we can offer ourselves is vulnerability. To face fear with grace is to admit that we are human, that we are scared, but that we are also capable of growth. Vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s the pathway to authentic strength.

When we face fear, we often feel the impulse to criticize ourselves for not being stronger. But self-compassion is key to moving through fear gracefully. It’s about acknowledging the fear without judgment and reminding ourselves that feeling uncertain is okay.
