Bothell Scouts BSA Troop 420

A few weeks ago a dozen of our younger scouts headed to Sea Base in Florida (while a dozen more headed out on their sailing adventure in St. Thomas.) Here’s a recap of the Florida experience.

We snorkeled tropical reefs and swam with sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, rays, barracuda, and more fish than we could possibly name. We hunted lobsters for dinner with sticks and nets (our crew caught 25 keepers — which might be a Sea Base record!), slept on the deck of our sailboats under the stars, spotted meteors, weathered a surprise squall, watched incredible sunsets and sunrises, and got to form stronger friendships among our scouting crews.

Someday the sunburns will fade, the salt will finally come out of everything we brought, and maybe we’ll even forget how tired we were — but I don’t think any of us will ever forget this week. 🐬🏝️🐠

Summer camp 2026 was a fun-filled week for this incredible group of young people.

They've learned new skills. They've earned merit badges and completed advancement requirements. They've shot rifles and arrows, climbed towers, paddled kayaks, tied knots, built camp gadgets, made crafts, caught fish, eaten way too much candy, explored forests, found bugs, lizards, and snakes, laughed until their stomachs hurt, and walked countless miles all over camp. But most importantly, they’ve built new friendships and memories they’ll carry with them forever.

Summer camp has always been one of the most special parts of Scouting because this is where those moments happen. This is where confidence is built. This is where independence grows. This is where scouts begin to understand not only what they're capable of, but also how important they are to the people around them.
