What happens when indiscriminate backyard breeders are just trying to make a buck? They end up with a puppy like Echo, who is nearly deaf and mostly blind in one eye.
And what do the people who bred him do once they have a puppy like Echo? They stick him in a chicken coop while they try to give him away on Facebook.
Sigh.
The good news is that Echo is now safe with our rescue partner down south and they hope to send him up to AHF where he has a shot at finding a loving forever home. But we can only take him if he has a committed foster or foster-to-adopt home to go to. Can you help?
Echo is a 4-month-old Aussie, likely purebred. He currently weighs around 15–20 lbs. and is still growing. Hearing and sight impairments don't stop him; he’s a bundle of energy and loooovvvvess to play. His favorite things in the whole wide world are other dogs and toys. He’s crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night without making a peep. He’s also making progress with house training but will need a patient foster or adopter who’s willing to continue working with him.
Echo may be a bit shy at first, but before you know it, he’ll be the biggest cuddle bug you’ve ever met. He will thrive with an active, energetic family who can help him burn off puppy energy and provide plenty of enrichment. Another dog in the house would be great if they are equally playful.
It was initially thought that Echo was completely deaf, but he may be able to hear some loud noises. It was also though that he was completely blind in one eye, but it seems he may be able to shadows or figures. He has been doing well learning simple hand gestures.
Please fill out an application if you have room in your heart and home for Echo.

Chami & Felicity Update‼️ Their fate is on the line — we’re fighting Texas A&M in Federal Court.
Texas A&M mocked Chami’s suffering in exposed internal emails, calling her pain “comical.” But this October, we’ll see who’s laughing in court.
Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, BFP obtained A&M’s internal emails showing staff rattled, overwhelmed, and scrambling to cover up their role in Chami’s abuse.
Because of YOU — your calls, emails, and shares that turned Chami’s fight into a worldwide movement — Texas A&M knows we won’t back down until Chami and her cage-mate, Felicity, are free.
‼️WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW:
1️⃣Visit bfp.org/free-chami for ready-to-send emails, addressed to the university’s General Counsel, Institutional Compliance Office, and Marketing & Communications teams.
2️⃣Donate now to fuel this fight. Help us win Chami and Felicity the freedom they deserve.
3️⃣Share this post with everyone you know! The more voices TAMU hears, the harder it is to ignore our demand for Chami’s freedom.
Every message adds pressure. Every minute counts. 🐶💔

Look at that face!!
ADOPTED !!!
Such a stoic face! Roland is very serious about finding his adoptive home. He's ready to start the next chapter of his new life. Roland is hoping for your shares today to do so 🙏🐾
Roland is a gentleman who is dreaming of a home where he will be a treasured family member. He is a young senior at 8 years old. Roland is a 49-pound beagle. Roland will thrive in a family that isn't gone for the long work day and will include him when planning adventures. He tends to get lonely and bark when his people leave home without him but this should diminish once he realizes that he is home and won't be abandoned again. Roland enjoys couch time with his foster parents and he will be happiest if his forever family allows him to join them on their couch. Roland has great house manners and is a wonderful companion.
Roland has lived with dogs and is fine with other dogs that he has met while out on walks. He would be fine with another canine buddy possessing his same calm demeanor. We don't know how Roland would react around cats, therefore, any resident cats should have a safe place to observe Roland while he adapts to his new surroundings. Because of the quick and unpredictable nature of young children his rescuers are asking for a home without children under 10 years of age.
Roland is posted Save-A-Mutt. He is being fostered in Snohomish County, WA. If you'd like to learn more about Roland, please email: [email protected] or check out their Petfinder link:

Update : ADOPTED !!!
Happy Wednesday, Everyone!
We heard from our friends at the Kitsap Humane Society that Leah is now back at the shelter. BIG thanks to the shelter foster for showing her love and care. It is sad to think sometimes the first time a dog receives such love and care is when they land in a shelter..
We are sharing this girl again today in hopes you'll join us to help her find the loving home she deserves.
Leah is an 8-year-old, 55 pound terrier mix. Leah came to the shelter from a sad situation. She had a rough start in life. Leah was able to spend some time in a shelter foster home where she was learning to shine and appreciate life in a home with care. Leah is now back at the shelter and ready for her true forever home!
Leah lives with kitties in her current foster home and does well with them however, she is best as the only dog in the home. Leah is house-trained and has wonderful house manners. She is looking for a home where she will be spoiled and loved as all dogs deserve to be!
Leah is posted for the Kitsap Humane Society located in Silverdale, WA. For more information about Leah and adopting this sweet girl, please click on this link:

Daisy and Ranger are best friends who are ready to find a home where they can remain together for the rest of their lives. Daisy is an 8 year old terrier/whippet mix who weighs 16 pounds. 9 year old Ranger is a 38 pound plott hound mix. The pair have been together since they were puppies.
Ranger and Daisy have spent their lives around many different animals, other dogs, cats and even goats. Both dogs have been known to chase unknown kitties, so we'd recommend a home with cats who are dog savvy and able to get away as needed. We'd hope in time the pair would get to know that cats and leave them alone as they have done in the past. Ranger enjoys other dogs, whereas Daisy has less confidence; she does get nervous and shy when meeting new dogs. Time to acclimate after proper introductions will help with the integration of Daisy and Ranger into their new home. Because Daisy is a sensitive soul, the belief is that she would be happiest in a home without young children. At this time she lives with a teenage child and that suits her just fine! We are told she is quite the snuggler once she gets to know you.
Currently the pair stay outside in a covered area with a large fenced yard during the day. In the afternoon they are able to come inside and use a doggy door when needed. With their previous owner they were accustomed to staying inside all day long because she was home during the day. The hope is that the pair will find a home where there doesn't need to be time when they have to remain outside, especially during inclement weather. We are told both are house trained, managing quite a few hours between potty breaks. They are trained to use a dog door.
Both dogs will bark if there's a commotion but they will stop when told "No bark!". Daisy and Ranger are said to be great on leash. They enjoy trail and beach walks. Daisy can get a bit nervous if she sees other dogs or humans while out and about but her response is to back away. Ranger and Daisy sound like fairly active dogs who will thrive in a home where they can exercise daily.
These are young seniors who show no sign of arthritis. They can both manage stairs. An adopter should be willing and able to provide for these friends lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food. Neither dog has ever been crated. At night they've slept with their human or on their dog bed.
Ranger and Daisy's person had to go into assisted living after a life-changing fall. Family has stepped up to care for the pair; however, this is not a permanent home. These loving dogs sound like fun friends who each have something different to offer, they will surely complete someone's home!
Daisy and Ranger are located in Kingston, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]
These are not Old Dog Haven dogs. Old Dog Haven has not assessed these dogs for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

ADOPTED !!!
8 year old Midge is an amazing little girl who is dreaming of a forever home. She is a 19 pound schnauzer. She is polite and always waits to be invited onto the couch. Midge loves being with her people and would love to be part of a family that will include her in their plans. Whether it is going for walks or getting cozy at home this girl is a great companion.
Midge's foster parents are working on teaching her how to walk on a leash. She is a smart girl and a quick learner but she will need someone committed to continuing with her leash manners. Midge loves lounging in the sun in the safety of her securely fenced backyard; therefore, her rescuers are requiring that any adopter also has a yard that has secure fencing.
Midge is happily living with dogs in her foster home and would enjoy having a canine friend. She would probably also enjoy being someone's little princess so another dog isn't a must. It is unknown if Midge has been around cats. Any cats in the home should be dog savvy and have a safe place to observe Midge as she adapts to her new surroundings. Midge is a favorite of the kids in her neighborhood and would be fine with respectful children.
This lovely lady is housebroken and crate trained. She will bark to alert and when out in public so no apartments for this girl.
Midge is posted for Save-A-Mutt. She is being fostered in Snohomish County, WA. If you would like to learn more about Midge, please email: [email protected] or check out their Petfinder link: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/midge-76817961/wa/silvana/save-a-mutt-wa630/
