To Our Patrons, Friends, and Family,
I have been the manager at Jacob Wirth for 8 years. I grew up here. I ate dinner at these wooden tables more often than at the one in my parents kitchen. It was how I felt close to a grandfather I never met and grew to love the Wirth family as an extension of my own. I am horrified by what has been written in the press and would like to address it because it has nothing to do with Jacob Wirth. I have a two and half year old daughter. She had health issues when I was pregnant with her that have only grown in significance and depth since her birth. She is severely handicap. Because of this I did not ever send her to day care. I had a nanny care for her and ONLY her at my place of work so I could be there and take breaks with her to ensure her health and care. Working across the street from our hospital and having that facility at our finger tips was the icing on the cake.
We ARE working to reopen. Unfortunately when you give a 200 year old building a shower in the middle of summer with all the humidity the drying out process and repair process does not occur overnight.
Yes we are for sale and have been for a while. This is not by choice but unfortunately my parents got divorced and the sale was a requirement. It is truly heartbreaking to be forced to say good bye to my home and to know that day lingers some where in the future.
Oktoberfest is coming and we plan to have steins ready to hoist and will keep our wonderful patrons updated as we get ready to welcome you through our doors again soon!
