Phoenix is looking for her hero! 8-year-old Phoenix is a huge sweetheart in a pint-sized package. She absolutely loves spending time with her pals - humans and dogs alike! Phoenix is happy to spend time with you whether you want to snuggle on the couch or head to the backyard to dig a few holes in the dirt.

Phoenix is currently being treated for a chronic kidney disorder that will require an ongoing relationship with a veterinarian. She is doing well at the shelter on a prescription diet and medication, though adopters should expect her treatment plan to change over time.

Phoenix could do well in a home with dogs, cats, and kids depending on your individual situation. Please help us get this sweet petite princess out of the shelter and into a cozy home of her own!

Bear is a really special Chow puppy who landed in our care because he was struggling behaviorally. Like most Chows, he prefers a small friend group and slow introductions. This can be challenging because he really brings out the cute aggression in people who see him🫣🤣 Bear has been making big improvements, especially when he has a helper dog to show him the ropes. We’d love to send him home with another dog to keep up his momentum and he’ll definitely need someone with lots of dog experience who knows what to expect from him and can provide lots of support and confidence building. He’ll be ready for a new home on Saturday morning, so stop by the Boston adoption center to learn more!

Come say HAAAAYYYY!! Our team at Nevins Farm has been caring for hundreds of farm animals over the last several months, and we’re excited to share that many of them are finally getting closer to finding homes.

Join us for our Come Say Hay Open House this weekend on June 13 & 14 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Methuen!

You’ll have the chance to meet some of the animals, chat with our farm animal experts, learn about adoption, and help us start making matches for chickens, ducks, goats, cows, horses, pigs, zebus, and more.

Many of these animals came to us through law enforcement cases and have spent months receiving medical care and rehabilitation while their cases moved through the courts. Now that we’re able to begin the adoption process, we’re looking for thoughtful adopters who can give them the next chapter they deserve.
Please note: animals will not be going home during the event, but this is a great opportunity to meet them and start the adoption process.

No RSVP is required. Those who are interested in adopting a specific animal are welcome to submit an inquiry form in advance, though it is not necessary to attend. mspca.org/OpenHouse

That is a wrap on Lobby Day for Animals! Thank you so much to everyone who came to Beacon Hill to advocate for animals, including special guests Ginormous Chicken and Tiki the Rescue Dog, and to our legislators for taking the time to meet with us. It was a wonderful day celebrating advocate achievements and championing animal protection legislation in Massachusetts. If you want to keep up with our Advocacy efforts, join our Animal Action Team at mspca.org/jointheteam!

Special thank you to Deborah B. Goldberg, Massachusetts State Treasury for the event logistics, and to Senate President Karen E. Spilka and her office for giving Chicken and Tiki the grand tour. Also thanks to our coalition partners, Animal Rescue League of Boston, Humane World for Animals, and Animal Legal Defense Fund for co-hosting this special day. And the fabulous Lighthouse Photography for the amazing photos.

We gathered at the State House yesterday with other animal welfare organizations and advocates to work together to strengthen protection for animals in the Commonwealth. Also in attendance were well-known and loved, and ! At the forefront of our agenda (aside from all the cuddles and photo ops)? Getting the PETS Act to pass the House!

The PETS Act unanimously passed the Sentae in March, but now we need your help to keep the momentum going in getting it through the House. This comprehensive bill would:

1. End the unnecessary use of animal test subjects for cosmetics
2. Expand legal protections to cover all household pets
3. Help make pet ownership possible by preventing homeowners (and renters) insurance from discriminating based on a dog’s perceived breed
4. Ban the sale of dogs and cats in pet shops, while still allowing pet shops to partner with shelters and rescues to showcase adoptable animals

We had so much fun at Lobby Day and look forward to continuing to come together by using our voices to advance the lives of animals.

We’re always welcoming new animal advocates to join our Animal Action Team! To learn more, visit mspca.org/jointheteam

Meet Gilligan, a 3-year-old neutered male who’s been waiting for a home since August. You don’t realize what you’re missing!!

This guy LOVES a car ride! Whether you’re hitting the drive through (the boy loves a pup cup) or are ready for a cross-country road trip, just pack his bully sticks and let’s go!

Gilligan has become a favorite adventure buddy for staff because he’s always ready to hop in the car and keep you company. He’s wants to be wherever his people are, whether that heading out for an adventure, or just cruising around with the windows cracked.

When he’s not playing passenger prince, Gilligan enjoys sniffy walks, treats, hanging out with his favorite humans, and settling in with something good to chew. He’s affectionate and full of personality.

Gilligan would love to be your one-and-only pet so he can soak up all of your attention. He has a positive history around children, although since Gilligan is a big, energetic guy, he’d do best with sturdy kids who can appreciate his goofy enthusiasm. He loves people, and is looking for adopters who can continue helping him build confidence using positive reinforcement.

If you’ve been searching for a loyal sidekick and professional shotgun rider, Gilligan might be your guy.

Come meet him at Nevins Farm. His next adventure could start with you!! We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.
