In partnership with Listen to Your Mothers, we're urging Greater Bostonās employers, institutions, and leaders to take an opportunity to be even bolder, think differently and recognize that what is good for the mothers of this city, is also what is good for business.

The Academy of Women Achievers celebration is only three weeks away! Donāt miss the opportunity to honor Shavelāle Olivier, our Sylvia Ferrell-Jones Awardee, on June 4.
The Sylvia Ferrell-Jones Award honors a young professional woman of color who exemplifies leadership while advancing YW Bostonās mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
Shavelāle Olivier is an advocate for positive change who creates and implements visions that strengthen communities. She is deeply committed to the neighborhoods where she lives, works, and travels, with passions in youth development, community leadership, and a people-centered approach to transportation. Her notable contributions are focused on the transportation passions of her work including founding Mattapan on Wheels, a major biking event that promotes safer infrastructure, cultivates youth leadership, and elevates cycling culture in Mattapan. She also co-founded Transportation Talks in 2020 to bring residents of Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury, and BIPOC communities together to explore how transportation shapes quality of life.

In the spring and summer of 1988, Gloria Chun Hoo was a key player in the YWCA USA new logo design. It was the era of YWCA celebrating new beginnings with the implementation of the sunrise logo that ran from 1989 to 2004. It was a defining moment that created persimmon as our signature color. Thank you Gloria Chun Hoo for shaping YWCA.
Our President and CEO Aba Taylor was featured on Boston 25 News to talk about the importance of investing in mothers this Motherās Day. This letter demands that parents, non-parents, allies, supervisors, workers, everywhere unite this Mother's Day as a collective power. We pledge to take actions that improve conditions in our workplaces, homes, and communities so that all parents, but especially mothers and mothers of color, can thrive.
