Grateful Dead history wasn't just made onstage.

Longtime insider Barbara Whitestone spent decades preserving the backstage—assembling an extraordinary archive filled with psychedelic posters, signed photographs, backstage passes, tour laminates, rare Grateful Dead Records ephemera, production materials, and hundreds of artifacts documenting the band's world from the inside.

Spanning the late 1960s through the mid-1990s, the collection offers a remarkable look at the people, culture, and community surrounding one of music's most influential bands.

Before Deadwood… there was lovesick Wild Bill Hickok writing home from Kansas.

An exceedingly rare 1858 handwritten letter signed FOUR times by Hickok is now at RR Auction. The deeply personal frontier-era letter references Mary Owen — the woman some historians believe changed the course of his life forever.

Up for bid in The Western Americana auction of Jochen Zeitz, ending May 21.
