Butcher Block can take many forms in a kitchen, whether as countertops or carving boards, it is beautiful as well as functional and very durable for daily use. Although butcher block requires more maintenance than stone countertops, the variety of uses, color, and graining creates a warm organic workspace like no other. I think they'll be in style for years to come.

To give your kitchen or bathroom sink a modern, stylish touch while increasing function, consider installing a touchless faucet.

Your family will appreciate the hygienic aspect as well!

With winter on the way, now is a great time to think about an update to the centerpiece of the home.

Your eye naturally is drawn to the darkest thing in the room. This vintage fireplace is non-functioning but is still the focal point of the room with its bold and dark monochromatic color scheme. The deep rich wall color adds drama. This fireplace mantel was originally painted white, the hearth surround a parged yellow concrete. Some simple paint has completely transformed the appearance and vibe of this room. You can change the entire look of a fireplace by adding your personal touch with colors and materials that coordinate with your personal style.

An attractive fireplace adds charm to any room. And a cozy fire on a cool night is a delight! Older homes often have fireplaces with large hearths and outdated brick surrounds. If you have an older fireplace that’s in need of an update, there are many ways to customize your fireplace and make it more current and sleeker.

Designing custom cabinetry, a mantel and surround completely transformed the appearance of an old facade of imposing rustic brick. Thin marble veneer tiles were added to cover the remaining exposed surround. Converting the wood-burning fireplace to gas by installing a gas insert allows for the comforts of a roaring fire without having the work and cleanup wood logs require. The brass and glass doors were another element that added individual style to the room.

Throw blankets can add some instant fall flair to your home. Whether you add one or an assortment of many to your living room, bedroom, or an outdoor living space, you can’t go wrong with a mix of solids in a chunky knit with some rich patterns like a wool plaid. This little addition is not only functional, it adds warmth making your home inviting for family and guests alike.

A runner is a great way to give your stairs an overhaul. A stair runner leaves a few inches of exposed tread on either side, as opposed to a fully carpeted stair. Your stair runner can be customized to make a statement by adding a trim on the edge, in this case a cotton binding tape, but it could be another carpet in a contrasting color or pattern. The complex layering here of shades of brown and pattern - between the wallcovering, the paint, the wood floor, and the carpet - work together and flow with the rest of the space.
