Bu yıl 26.sı düzenlenen Yapı Kredi Afife Tiyatro Ödüllerinde, Yılın En Başarılı Sahne Müziği ödülüne aday görüldük. Erdal Beşikçioğlu önderliğindeki “Otomatik Portakal” projesinde Sarp Palaur ve Burak Kaya ile birlikte bu ödüle aday gösterilmek bir onurdur.

We have been nominated for the Best Theatre Music Award at the 26th Yapı Kredi Afife Theatre Awards this year. It is an honor to be nominated for this award alongside Sarp Palaur and Burak Kaya in the “A Clockwork Orange” project led by Erdal Beşikçioğlu.

My first symphonic single, "Scope" (Live), is now available. This recording features American conductor Dorian Wilson and the Bursa State Symphony Orchestra (Bursa Bölge Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası) It can be found on all music platforms, including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

"Scope" was composed in 2008 and marks my first premiered and award-winning symphonic piece. The Bursa State Symphony Orchestra performed the world premiere of this composition. Although I have composed various symphonic pieces before my arrival in the USA, "Scope" holds a special place in my heart, which is why it is my first symphonic release. More symphonic releases will follow soon. Stay tuned!

While arranging and producing two medleys for Q-Tip and Ledisi for the Berklee Commencement 2024, I couldn't help but think about how my wife defines me as the "Global Music Specialist". It made me reflect on my role in the music industry. Am I primarily a Classical/Contemporary Composer and Arranger, a Contemporary Jazz Pianist, a Classical Percussionist, or a Producer? This is something that I often ponder upon.

I started my musical career as a pure classical musician, and at the age of 11, at one point, I only listened to contemporary classical, dodecaphonic & experimental music like Stockhausen, Alban Berg, Arnold Schonberg, Anton Webern, Penderecki, Messiaen, Charles Ives, and many others. I regarded all other music styles as "bull crap." However, 25+ years later, I reflect on my journey and see how much I've grown. I have worked with Indian musicians like A.R. Rahman and Annette Philip, Arabic music masters such as Bassam Sabaa and Simon Shaheen, world-famous African musicians like Sona Jobarteh and Asim Gorashi, and Chinese music legends like Yazhi Guo, Wu Man, and Chen Jun. I have also collaborated with Brazilian and Latin music masters like Deborah Gurgel and Luis Conte, jazz greats like Kevin Eubanks, Dave Weckl, Bobby McFerrin, Jojo Mayer, and Jack DeJohnette, pop and RnB figures like Chuck Rainey, Ledisi, and Justin Timberlake, Rock legends like Kenny Aronoff, and of course, Turkish music luminaries like Tahir Aydogdu, Ferhat Erdem, Husnu Senlendirici, Hasan Yukselir, Mehmet Ali Sanlikol, and Erkan Ogur, and many others. Alongside this, I have continued to work with world-class classical symphonic orchestras, and numerous soloists, conductors, and musicians, who have premiered my music worldwide.

When I was young, I had an impossible dream of creating a piece of pure music that could be felt & listened to by people from all over the globe, from Tibetan Monks to Italian Mafia Godfathers, Indian Gurus to Classical Music Luminaries, Hip-hop fans to Master Ph.D. Academicians, Jazz Cats to Middle-Eastern Ustads, Rockers to Asian Music Traditionalists, Pop Music Producers to Contemporary Music Enthusiasts, African Tribes to Norse clans, Music cops to music haters...

However, my goal isn't to compose a medley of all the music genres in the world, as that would be too easy. Instead, I aim to create something much more intricate, something that has never been heard before and is difficult to imagine. It's like dreaming about two billion years from now, or looking 500 million light-years away and not knowing what is happening there at present. It's a complex concept that is very hard to explain in words.

I am uncertain whether my musical journey aligns with my mission and vision, but only time will tell...

The release of my very first Symphonic Single, “Scope” is coming on April 26th in all music platforms. After decades of composing symphonic music, I will be finally sharing my compositions with you through quarterly recording releases.

“Scope” holds a special place in my mind and heart as it marks my 1st composition in the realm of symphonic music in the US. This piece was honored with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra Honorable Mention Award. It encapsulates my profound contemplation of our place as humanity in the vast expanse of the universe - pondering the mysteries of existence and our cosmic interconnectedness and minds.

I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the extraordinary talents of the Bursa State Symphony Orchestra, under the masterful baton of conductor Dorian Wilson. Their rendition of “Scope” transcends mere music, transporting listeners on an ethereal journey through space and time. I extend my heartfelt thanks to every member of Bursa Bölge Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası.

11 years ago today, we committed to our dream to be each other’s family, lover, best friend, and more in a foreign land, we now call home. We grew on each other’s hearts like an ancient sycamore, rooting deeper and deeper. I am so grateful that in addition to many beautiful experiences we’ve had so far, we’re now parents of this beautiful baby girl. Cumhuriyetin 100. yıl etkinlikleri kapsamında bir dizi etkinliğe imza atan Cumhurbaşkanlığı Senfoni Orkestrası ve Devlet Çoksesli Korosu, 29 Ekim saat 19.00’den itibaren Ankara’daki TBMM 2. Meclis binasında “100. Yıl Konseri” verecek. Konser TRT 2 de naklen yayınlanacak. Bu konserde Cumhuriyetimizin 100. Yılı için bestelediğim “Yüz Yılın Yıldızı” da seslendirilecek.
