Boston Lykeion ton Ellinidon, an organization founded in 1910 to educate Greek women, now has a mission to preserve Greek culture. To celebrate their anniversary, they had a program of dance, poetry, and history at the Maliotis Cultural Center in Brookline, MA. Vassiliki Rapti and Peter Botteas did a moving staged reading. Somerset Hall Press was honored to exhibit its books at this wonderful event.

Ambassador Ferit Hoxha, the Honorable Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations, spoke at the Institute of Eastern Mediterranean Studies at Emmanuel College about the role of the UN in times of conflict. Thank you to the Director of the Institute, Prof. Petros Vamvakas, for an edifying discussion on a timely topic. Also, very impressive questions from the International Relations students in the audience.

Alkistis Protopsaltis and Dimitris Mpasis in a Concert Tribute to Hellenism at the Berklee Center for the Performing Arts. I confess that I did not know their music well before but they have beautiful voices and put on a very lively concert. People were dancing by the end.

Hellenic Women’s Benevolent Association, the founding and operating organization of the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton, MA celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Wellesley country club. Congratulations to board president Tina Papadopoulos, board member Vivian Stameris, and the entire HWBA!

Alcestis, a play by the Ancient Greek playwright Euripides, was adapted and performed at the Maliotis Center. Greek TV star Demetrios Lalos was very engaging with the audience, who mostly attended because of him!
