AFSCME Local 413 in Easthampton has joined together with our union brothers and sisters from Easthampton Firefighters Local 1876, Easthampton Education Association, International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 99-367, and the National Association of Government Employees Local 1-331 to form Yes for Easthampton to urge residents to support a Prop 2 1/2 Override vote next week in order to avoid severe budget cuts that would significantly impact municipal services, public safety, and education.

Vote YES For Easthampton Public Safety, Public Schools, Public Parks and Public Works!

Yesterday at the Boston Presidents’ Committee, Executive Director Mark Bernard swore in Council 93’s newest Local leaders- Local 944 President Jose Dos Santos and Local 1198 President Mike Somers. Congratulations Jose and Mike!

Last night, dozens of members from AFSCME Local 1067 MA Higher Education, Local 24, Local 17, and Massachusetts Community College Council were out in force at the Greenfield Community College Board of Trustees' meeting to protest proposed layoffs. These layoffs would would impact Local 1067 members in IT, facilities, accountants, campus police, clerical workers – many of whom work directly with students every day, from admissions through graduation. At the same time layoffs for staff and instructors who work directly with students are being discussed, administrator costs and salaries at the college are skyrocketing- up 92% since 2013.

Congratulations to the newest members of AFSCME Council 93- Worcester Polytechnic Institute Librarians! These workers won their union election this afternoon and will soon begin negotiations for their first union contract!

The WPI Librarians are giving themselves job security, a better future, and a seat at the table by forming their union!
