'No Hurry' by Terry Miura -- a current personal favorite hanging in the gallery. I fell in love with Terry's nudes before any of his other work, you can read about it here: http://terrymiura.blogspot.com/2012/10/sloane-merrill-gallery.html.

Thank you, artscope magazine! Look forward to seeing everyone tonight at Kelly Carmody's show, 6:30-9pm!

“Evocations,” a dozen still life paintings (including “Pink Roses in a Tall Vase,” seen here) by Boston artist Kelly Carmody, go on view during the show’s opening reception tonight (Friday, Nov. 13) from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Sloane Merrill Gallery, 75 Charles St., Boston, Massachusetts.

“Carmody is attracted to balance, color and narrative, and harmonizes the three qualities in her still lifes for Evocations. Subtle and flesh-like pinks complement organic greens in ‘Roses in Tall Vase,’ and simultaneously the viewer feels that they have just placed the barely budding roses into the vessel. ‘Tangerines’ reveals her reverence for both the Dutch still life painters and the French Realists and Impressionists.

“Like both, she intensely studies and paints objects, and is only satisfied once they come to life in her compositions. Fresh flowers, once-living birds, and tempting edibles all reflect the simple beauty of the natural world and their fleeting essence. Carmody offers a moment in time in each painting, evoking a smell, feeling, relation or thought, and reminding us what it is to be human.”

The Sloane Merrill Gallery is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., on Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and by chance on Sunday & Monday from noon-5 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, call (617) 227-1775.

Who's ready for Marathon Monday!? Adam Vinson's gearing us up with this new incredible painting:

'Man vs. Self vs. Man vs. Nature', 14 x 15 inches, Oil on Panel, 2015.

Here are Adam's words about the painting:

I have been kicking this painting around since 2013, given the events that happened during the most famous marathon route in the world. I started it in 2014 and finished it in 2015. Something of a personal painting marathon, I guess. Proud to say I had a negative split half-way. And I'm more than honored that it will be presented in Boston at Sloane Merrill Gallery, in time for the second running of the race since that horrible day.
