From all of us at FriendshipWorks, Happy Father's Day! Today we celebrate fathers, father figures, and all of the fathers-of-choice who have made a difference in our lives. Take a moment today to reach out to the special people who have shaped who you are β a phone call, a visit, or even a handwritten note can mean the world.

Today, FriendshipWorks joins the nation in celebrating Juneteenth β a day that marks the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans and a powerful reminder of the ongoing work toward freedom, equity, and justice for all. We remain committed to serving older adults of all backgrounds with dignity and care. Please note our office will be closed on June 19 for the holiday.

We are SO proud to celebrate the newest graduates of our PetPals program! πΎπ These incredible volunteers made it through their assessment and are wagging their tails in anticipation of bringing joy and comfort to older adults across Greater Boston. Research shows that interactions with animals can reduce stress, ease loneliness, and bring genuine happiness β and our PetPals volunteers make that "pawsible"! Congratulations to our newest class! This week is Global Loneliness Awareness Week β a time to reflect on the very real impact that social isolation has on older adults in our Greater Boston communities. At FriendshipWorks, all of our programs are designed to foster social connections β and we see how life changing they can be. Shawn, a Friendly Visiting program participant tells us:
"FriendshipWorks has given me more than just company. It's given me something to hold onto β something steady. It reminds me that I still matter. That my story matters. That I'm not invisible."
Many of our volunteers tell us the feeling is mutual. If you'd like explore our volunteer opportunities, visit: https://buff.ly/0INInb1.
On June 9, nearly 200 members of FriendshipWorks' community of connection-makers gathered for this fundraising event, "A Cause for Connection: Changing the View on Aging, Together."
Here's a snapshot of the stunning city views, the friendships and conversations unfolding throughout the evening, and the inspiring energy of a community committed to helping older adults in Greater Boston age with purpose and belonging.
