Federal judge strikes down Trump admin limits on asylum and immigration applications | CNN Politics 06/05/2026

For immigrants and families whose applications have been stalled for months, today’s court ruling is a welcome sign that their voices, rights, and futures matter.

We are encouraged by this ruling that recognizes the real human impact of policies that left so many people waiting in uncertainty. Every person deserves a fair opportunity to pursue lawful immigration pathways and have their case considered on its merits.

While today's news is promising, we know the work is not finished. A court ruling is an important step, but meaningful progress will be measured by what happens next: cases moving forward, barriers being removed, and families finally receiving the certainty they have been waiting for.

For now, we celebrate this moment of hope while remaining committed to the work ahead.

As we get ready to welcome a new class of summer interns this week, we're reflecting on the many talented interns who have helped advance our mission over the years.

One of them is Hannah Podol, who served as our Forest Foundation Intern last summer. In this video from Boston Citizenship Day, Hannah shares why events like Boston Citizenship Day matter and what makes Project Citizenship's work so meaningful.

We're grateful for Hannah's contributions and excited to see what our newest interns will accomplish in the months ahead.

A HUGE thank you to our lovely volunteers, Cisco Santiago and Shanda Foster, for recording this interview and capturing the essence of Boston Citizenship Day! We are so grateful that you shared your talent and expertise with us, and we have you to thank for this delightful interview.

On Tuesday, we were delighted to return to our monthly community citizenship workshops with Cambridge Citizenship Day —our first workshop since Boston Citizenship Day earlier this month.

With the help of 29 Sanofi US volunteers, we assisted 38 aspiring citizens complete their N-400 applications. We are deeply grateful to our partners for helping make the day possible: thank you to Sanofi, the City of Cambridge’s Commission on Immigrant Rights and Citizenship, and Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui for their support and partnership.

One participant shared: “I feel at home and want to secure my future here, to be able to travel with a U.S. passport, and to participate in my community by voting and having a voice in our democracy.”

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, partnered, and supported this workshop. It was wonderful to gather together again and continue supporting aspiring Americans on their citizenship journeys. 🇺🇸

This past Saturday, we gathered for the 12th Annual Boston Citizenship Day and we’re feeling incredibly grateful. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the day possible, from our dedicated volunteers, pro bono attorneys, and interpreters, to our community partners and staff who came together to make this event welcoming, thoughtful, and impactful. We’re especially grateful to our event partner, the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement - Boston, for their continued collaboration and commitment.

This year, we served 158 aspiring citizens, and supported 20+ additional walk-ins by connecting them with trusted partners and resources when they weren’t yet eligible or needed other services.

While attendance was lower than in years past, each of this year's 168 participants represent 168 individual lives, stories, families, and futures. We're proud to have stood alongside each of these immigrants on their way to U.S. citizenship.

Now more than ever, it is critical that we celebrate and support aspiring citizens who have chosen to make Massachusetts their home. Boston Citizenship Day is one way we do that, but our work continues year-round.

If you or someone you know couldn’t join us on Saturday, we have two upcoming citizenship application workshops this month (one in Cambridge and one at our Boston office), and we’re here to help! 🔗Learn more at www.projectcitizenship.org.

Thank you again to our event sponsors, MassHealth, and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center!

📷: A HUGE shout-out to our event photographer, Gerald Hewes, for generously lending his time and talents. Please enjoy these beautiful photos from this past weekend!
