How I recorded my first single:

I slept 2 hours the night before, jumped out of an airplane in the early morning, had the biggest adrenaline rush of my life, then, with my knees shaking, headed straight to the studio to do the first professional piano recording of my life. Had to do some post editing clearly as my hand were shaking 😹

That day will forever be marked as one of the most kickass moments of my existence. I overcame some pretty powerful fear, resistance and doubt, and couldn’t be happier for pushing myself to do so.

Growth occurs in discomfort - just a gentle reminder for ya’ll to discomfort yourself daily 👌💗

Two months since I’ve released my first babe 👶❤️👆

Feels like forever ago.

Some unused drone footage from the video-shoot for “Unspoken” by Maxim Gurtovoy.

The song is a cover of “I found a reason” by Cat Power, originally by Velvet Underground. Heard it first in V for Vendetta, and it stuck with me for years. So figured it’s time for a cover!

BIO

Fjorda is a Boston-based singer-songwriter and electronic music producer. She was born in Russia and grew up during the years of collapse of socialism and the chaos of the new political reality. Her upbringing and turbulent adolescence led her to discover and ultimately fall in love with music. Music became a form of liberation and escape; a mesmerizing, imaginary place to be. The hardships of growing up in the post-soviet era also taught her the resilience, perseverance and self-reliance she would need later on. Fjorda has been singing and playing the piano since the age of 10. She is fully self-taught.

At the age of 20, Fjorda went through a major transition, relocating from her remote hometown in Russia to a bustling metropolitan city in the United States. With nowhere to go, no friends or family and little means to survive, she steadily built a new life for herself in a different, larger world.

Once standing firmly on her feet, Fjorda refocused on her dream and began studying electronic music production as well as collaborating with local musicians, all the while discovering, building and developing her own unique sound. Within a couple years, she'd be recording her own music, working with different producers and performing live at various local venues and festivals.

Fjorda's musical taste evolved over the years, from Muse and Radiohead in her teenage years, through the hypnotic trip-hop by Massive Attack and Portishead, to the deep, emotive soundscapes by Trentemoller, Burial and Sigur Ros. She connected with the unique style of Amy Winehouse and the genre-bending work of FKA twigs. However, above all, she looks up to Bjork as the greatest influence and inspiration on her creative work.
