The production of beer was regulated and taxed in France: a Paris brewing charter came into law in 1489, with the term « beer » being specifically used. Beer could only be produced by brew masters using the following ingredients: grain, water and hops.

According to CNN Denver CO is the best beer town in the US.
"Since 2011, more than 100 new breweries have opened in Colorado and there are more than 100,000 homebrewers in Colorado, according to the Brewer's Association."
The city has grown to support this breweries and for their work with each other, hosting CollaborationFest beer festival in Denver for the second year. Where breweries share "brewing experience and technique to join the perfect ingredients"
March 19th is the CollaborationFest, though tickets are sold out without surprise. Next years festival should be a must for brewers and beer mavens alike.

Over the past 15 years craft beer has grown its market share in the beer market annually as macro premium breweries have seen a loss market share.
In the same 15 years US consumers are overall buy less beer and are purchasing more liquor all the while the liquor production in the US has sky rocketed over 500%.
Beer drinkers are shifting more towards the large variety of craft beers and as a result the volume of consumption is declining. While the popularity of TV shows glamorizing liquor has inspired consumers to buy more distilled spirits.
The beer industry should not be threatened by the influx of distilleries and liquor consumption. Though brewers future sales projections may have to incorporate a larger artisan beer,wine and spirits market share view to stay on mark to consumers purchasing trends.
