“Hi, my name is Sam Hawkins and I will be attending the University of Illinois College of Medicine this upcoming semester! After graduating from the University of Rochester in 2023, I spent my three gap years working as a Research Assistant at the BU Brain Bank, volunteering with veterans at the VA hospitals, and volunteered as a teacher for the HMS Program. Working with HMS showed me the importance of collaborative and hands-on learning that requires creative thinking to explain complex concepts and encourage problem-solving. These experiences deepened my passion for medical education, collaboration, and mentorship, which I hope to expand upon throughout medical school and my future career as a clinician!”

The Next Level Learning Lab hosts their Spring Convening today exploring “Where Learning Sciences Meets the Future of Work”. MEDscience founders, directors and teachers of the program will speak on a panel to speak on Lessons and Insights from HMS MEDscienceWORKS. MEDscienceWORKS is a workforce development program, preparing trainees with foundational laboratory techniques and professional skills they’ll need to succeed in the life sciences industry.
