In memory of puppeteer Sid Krofft (1929-2026), here is a photo of me opening the show 'Sid & Marty Krofft's Follies' in 1976 which began with me operating the conductor, and it's finale with me in the red lame clown outfit. 'Follies' was a restaged family version of the Krofft's famous Les Poupées de Paris (The Dolls of Paris) a lavish, adults-only touring musical puppet show created by Sid and Marty Krofft in 1961. Sid Krofft initially approached me when I was twelve to come work at one of their amusement park productions, but because of my age, my parents wouldn't allow it. We kept in touch though and the five-years later when Krofft's opened their theatre at Kings Island, I was finally able to accept! (Photo: Dave Martin. Copyright ©️WM, All Rights Reserved)

Sid Krofft, 96, a Creator of Trippy Kids’ Shows Like ‘H.R. Pufnstuf,’ Dies 04/13/2026

RIP to a true legend in the puppet world, Sid Krofft. Best know for his 1970's TV series “H.R. Pufnstuf,” "Land of the Lost,” “The Bugaloos,” “Lidsville,” “Sigmund and the Sea Monsters,” and others, Sid began his career as a touring marionette act. After years of global tours with Judy Garland and others, Sid joined forces with brother Marty, and really made their name in the early 1960's with their adult marionette production 'Les Poupées de Paris.' I worked for the Krofft's back in the mid-1970's on the revival of this production then called 'Follies.'

Sid Krofft, 96, a Creator of Trippy Kids’ Shows Like ‘H.R. Pufnstuf,’ Dies With his brother Marty, he released a string of zany children’s programs. Some became cult favorites (even among adults) and others flopped.
