Hi there!! I’m Olessa :)
I handle marketing and communications for EmpowerGen and help share the stories behind the work we’re doing in the community.

I’m passionate about using storytelling and media to highlight the impact EmpowerGen is making and to help grow the amazing network of people supporting our mission.

A little about me:

• I work in media relations and spent most of my career in TV news
• I’m a mom of four awesome kiddos, so life is always busy and fun
• I’m a huge Buffalo Bills fan
• I love all food (seriously… everything)
• Bad reality TV is my guilty pleasure

Six years ago, they entered the world as a pair. Matching onesies, shared birthday cakes, same toys, same schedule… and I thought that’s how it would always be.

But this year feels different.

This year, she wants unicorns, glitter and everything pink. And he wants basketball, video games, and a boys-only party with zero sparkle allowed.

And just like that, my twins, the two who once shared everything, are officially becoming their own little people.

But even as they choose different birthday themes, different toys, and different friends, they still find each other in those those quiet twin moments. The shared laugh nobody else gets, the instinct to check if the other one is okay and the way they somehow always know what the other is thinking without a word.

That’s the magic of them. Not matching. Not identical. Just forever connected in a way the rest of us don’t get to be.

So here’s to my sparkle girl and my little tough guy. To the two who made our family louder, fuller and better in every way. To the two hearts that made mine grow twice its size.

I may be a day late posting this, but that’s only because we were too busy making the kind of memories I never want to rush past.
