I love my carving tools ✨ and holding all of my work down. I’m also a huge fan of the carving kit (not pictured) but. AgreT starter option. Also Xacto knives, leather awls, and others are a part of everyday carving.

Morning ✨ this would have been a smoother cut on traditional battleship hard Lino, which of course, I have tons of. But alas, I’m here pulling soft Lino scraps. Might have to redo this one, it happens all the time. The most permanent part of printmaking is the idea ❤️ you can recreate it again and again. @ Boston, Massachusetts
to color testing for the Saudade print 🎨 Mixing colors is one of my favorite parts of printmaking. The possibilities are endless and it’s so rewarding to play with ink until you see your ideas form on the paper. I’m a big fan of varied editions because I like to offer many color options. I LOVE color. However, I’m going to be trying my hand at a few black and white prints soon.

Home studio in every sense of the word. 😂 Jumping into like it’s not mid-march. My art studio is in my home, which happens to be an open layout studio/ 1 br apt, haha. Organizing has always been second nature to me, but there are only so many places here where I can lay paper flat. 🤷🏽♀️ The drafting table is a hand-me-down from my boyfriend’s dad because my back was killing me when I first started carving. This is where I usually put my pieces and where my cat sits to look out the window. I keep all of my bookbinding materials, tools, paper pads, and Lino blocks in this 3-drawer chest. Wood I intend to print on, books in progress, my amazon-purchased paper-dying, drying rack, and scrap paper also pictured in shot 2. A drying line in my living room... I had a friend ask once if I hang my clothes there. 😂 Lastly, my trusty, diy flattening station with all of the multipurpose medicine balls and dumbbells. Not pictured is my closet and dresser chest where I keep large form paper. Honestly, the hardest part is dealing with the poor light that comes with living in a semi-basement apt during Boston winters and the infinite amount of cat hair. Still, how lucky am I to express, share, and grow through this craft. To connect with you. To do this “work.” ✨✨✨ I’ve always dreamt of a studio with high ceilings and more windows than I can count, but like all things, it will manifest in time. ❤️ @ Boston, Massachusetts

Havana Club and image transfers ✨ The tensions between my home countries: Cuba and America colored my childhood. Havana Club is a special staple in my memory. My parents and family friends would smuggle Cuba’s national rum across to the US as un detalle especial “a special gesture” to gift to their friends, in celebration. I wonder how many bottles were taken hostage at customs, never made it home.
Started this because I had some transfer problems with my larger Havana Vieja print. This transfer could be improved, but got the best results using my glass baron. Doing text for the first time! (Swipe for more) @ Havana, Cuba
Reminiscing on the passions that move me. This craft keeps me looking inward to reflect on my outer world. It allows me to record the forgotten histories of the every day battle with ourselves, our communities, our land. To shed light on our multifaceted identities, and show that there are many ways of living. Every soul deserves a blue slice of sky to look up to and wonder. ✨ Grateful for this daily practice, one of the biggest acts of love that keeps filling me with purpose. Love more, en todas partes. Happy Valentine’s day! ❤️

Inspo for my Habana Vieja print 💕 I decided to sketch straight onto the transfer paper for this one to speed things along now that I have less time to follow my passion. Transferring to the block this weekend and carving starts next week! Photo cred: the talented ✨

Got the best news today that my press is ready to ship from the Netherlands! 🎉 Can’t wait to print the “Habana Vieja y El Malecon” block using this beauty. This is a custom made extra-wide 19 inch press in Ocean blue. Of course, I’ll still hand-print some of my prints with my trusty and barens, but this will be great help for larger or multiple-block prints. I’ll be posting an updated materials post next month after trying my new printing tools. Happy Monday, all!

El Malecon emerges 🌊 one of the places on Cuba that sees the most magic. Where young lovers go to meet in secrecy, q***r Cubans celebrate identity, where the old and wise still play dominos. I like to think Habana vieja and el Malecon are old lovers relentless against the wall trying to divide them. @ Havana, Cuba
