Who knew this would be your last birthday photo. 😔 You wore that crown with such joy and elegance. Choosing to bury you with it was a testament to the happiness it brought you. I’m so glad I could make you feel like royalty on your last journey around the sun. My love for you is eternal, and I miss you more than words can say, Ma. Here’s to celebrating your life in heaven.

Ma, our road wasn’t easy. But we rode it out to the end. Thank you for helping me heal. Thank you for realizing my talent at a young age and helping me manifest my gift. Thank you for being my biggest supporter. Single handedly paying for me to attend Berklee. You were there with me when I sang at President Clinton’s inauguration. (Not many people can say they did that with their mom). You stood by me for 5 days giving birth to Damon Jr. Then bright and early for the birth of Daveigh. But most of all. Thank you for being my Mom. Rest peacefully Ma. You are no longer suffering Xoxo

If I learned one thing is true. There is no love better than a mother’s love. No matter what you been through in the past. Disagreements, differences and maybe childhood trauma. Please find a way to forgive and forget while they are here. So you both may be finally at peace. I

Sometimes, it is preferable to maintain a private life. They will mock your struggles. Then, they will resent your successes. Over the past year, I have made significant progress in solidarity and experienced personal growth. I took a break from the social media world because I believe the physical world holds more significance. Relevance is irrelevant me. I have made my mark and my presence will always exist. My name and brand will always be synonymous with integrity, which matters most to me.
