📣 Meet Jeff Monaco!
When Jeff moved to Boston after college, he didn’t know many people—but he knew he wanted to stay connected to his Jewish identity. Less than a year after returning from a Birthright trip to Israel, he was craving community and connection with local Jewish young adults.
A family member suggested checking out the Riverway Project at Temple Israel of Boston. Jeff went to a Riverway Shabbat—and immediately felt like he belonged.
“What resonates most with me about Riverway is the continuous feeling of coming together and the true sense of community. In a world that’s constantly trying to divide us, I’m grateful to be part of something that values everyone equally—no matter your background.”
Since that first event, Jeff has not only become a member of Temple Israel of Boston but also a dedicated Riverway leader—serving on the Riverway Leadership Team for the past three years and helping others (including his sister!) find their own paths to connection.
👏 Thank you, Jeff, for being such a vital part of the Riverway community.

We expected slurs. Instead, we were met with love.
For a mile and a half, strangers shouted "We love you."
What began as a day of fear became a moment of unexpected healing. 🌈💛
This is the power of Pride. This is the power of community.

📣 Meet Matt Zachem!
"While community doesn’t need to be tethered to a specific place, synagogues can provide an awesome space for Jews to engage in prayer, learning, and friendship. So after graduating from college, I knew I wanted to join a synagogue where I could gain that sense of community."
Temple Israel of Boston immediately stood out because of the Riverway Project—a vibrant space for people in their 20s and 30s to be in Jewish community together.
🌟 More in Matt’s words:
“After attending a few Riverway events, it was clear to me that the people were friendly, accepting, and inviting. These experiences made joining TI and staying involved in Riverway an easy decision.”
From Shabbat dinners to ice cream outings and meaningful friendships, Matt found what he was searching for—and more.
💬 If you’re looking for connection, community, and a meaningful place to grow Jewishly, Riverway might be the place for you, too.
