Saturday night in Harvard Square—don't miss American chamber ensemble ACRONYM as they introduce us to the "Drese effect" with a special program of German Baroque masterworks. Before Bach, the Drese cousins defined the musical landscape around Weimar and were hugely influential and gifted composers. ACRONYM introduces us to nearly all of the extant works of the Drese cousins in a special event featuring 6 singers and 5 historical brass players.

BEMF returns to CRB Classical's In Concert on Sunday, January 18 at 7pm with a double-bill of concerts recorded LIVE at our June 2025 Festival featuring the celebrated ensembles ACRONYM and Constantinople. Tune in to 99.5 FM or stream online at https://www.classicalwcrb.org/show/upcoming-in-concert-broadcasts/2025-12-23/acronym-and-constantinople-with-bemf

ACRONYM opened the Festival Week with a grand program of extravagant works commissioned by (or dedicated to) the noble families of the Holy Roman Empire. For nearly a millennium, the Empire’s purse funded some of the most lavish (and strangest!) art, architecture, and music available across Europe, expressions both of its love of—and its grip on—temporal power. ACRONYM returns to Greater Boston in February with an all-new concert exploring the musical world of Germany just before Bach.

Kiya Tabassian - کیا طبسیان leads the Canadian-based ensemble Constantinople in their BEMF début with a musical dialogue between Johann Sebastian Bach and Persian polymath Omar Khayyam. The sacred and the sublime transcend borders in a program of religious music by Bach contrasted with poems by Khayyam sung in Persian and featuring beguiling soprano Hana Blažíková.
