The PIBDF Friday Files with Chair, Dr. Eric Zuckerman:

This week our FB posts featured a few of our go-to internet resources for trusted, up to date medical and daily living info for children and families living with IBD.

It's become a rather dangerous convenience to simply google search for medical information and one that can have very serious consequences. It can be tricky to tease out the reliable websites from the quacks and, unfortunately, there are far more of one than the other.....

In addition to the sites we posted, remember to ask your child's pediatric gastroenterologist for his or her recommendations. Healthcare professionals understand that you're going to be on the internet looking to supplement information you receive at office visits so they're usually more than happy to take a minute and pass on to you sites they trust.

The internet can be an amazing resource to supplement your medical knowledge, especially when you know where to look!

Wishing you all a good week,
Eric Zuckerman, DO
Chair, Pediatric IBD Foundation
