Starting this week, the MBTA ferry will be running from Quincy into Boston. The ferry is a great alternative way to get to Boston during the week in the warmer months!

Last week, I spoke in support of the PROTECT Act on the House Floor. This legislation is a truly collaborative effort built upon valuable input from all members of the House, law enforcement, and community stakeholders. My colleagues in the Asian Caucus and I worked closely with the Black and Latino Legislative Caucus to address gaps in public safety that impact everyone. The PROTECT Act represents a practical approach within the law to ensure the state can provide all residents equal protection under our Commonwealth’s constitution and statutes.

As the House Chairman on the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, I wanted to recognize National Consumer Protection Week. In the spirit of the week, I have shared resources for scam recognition and reporting. In the age of rapidly growing technology, being conscious of consumer protection is more important now than ever.

Today we honor all of the men and women who have served in our armed forces. Your sacrifices and dedication to our country will not be forgotten.
A special thank you to Sargent Thomas Lester for his deeply moving keynote speech at Merrymount Park.

At this point, many of you may already be aware that due to the ongoing federal shutdown, beginning November 1, 2025, there will be no benefits issued for SNAP users. However, state programs including the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC), and state funded food banks and pantries will continue.
My office has compiled information about resources that may be helpful during this exceedingly difficult time. We encourage you to share it with your neighbors and if you have questions to reach out to my office directly at 617-722-2370. We have also included information about how folks can help. If you’re able, it’s best to contact your local food pantry first to inquire about the best way to support their work.

This morning, I joined with Quincy veterans and other community members in remembering William R. Caddy on what would have been his 100th Birthday. William served in the US Marine Corps and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, where he gave his life for his country. This morning's ceremony was held at Mt. Wollaston Cemetery and William's memory is forever encapsulated at Caddy Memorial Park on Quincy Shore Drive.
