The herders and I had lots of fun this weekend at GRC Dogsports nationals while Sonny got to hang out with his auntie Leritza (he would like to petition for a new mother)
I judged SR tests Saturday+Sunday and got to see lots of good friends and meet some new cool humans and dogs!
Eli competed in Spring Pole (he was confused why I was asking him to hang onto an inanimate object that wasn’t fighting back) and Mill Race (he ran his little heart out and placed third for his mother’s ego). He also got to practice jumping off the dock and swimming multiple times a day (thank you PAWS for being so generous with your amazing facilities!!) I almost entered him in the Wall Climb competition to see what he’d do (he’s never seen that picture before lol) but after seeing how much effort he put into Mill Race with the high humidity I chose to let him rest and instead got to watch our friends and their very cool dogs kick ass.
I was also honored to handle Arson SR3 😎 while he waited for his mother to finish running Klepto SR3 😎 and vice versa. Let’s just say, I don’t know many cattle dogs with their level of intensity who would be so easy to handle in a busy trial environment while other dogs are participating in drive sports a few feet away. Unsurprising, given who their mother is 😘
Most importantly, my best girl got to go on a million walks a day, sleep in bed, hunt, and train all weekend. Every trip with her is a gift and she seemed to be feeling well this weekend after her acupuncture appointment last week.
And I wouldn’t have him any other way 🥰
