I used to hate writing.
In fact, I became an engineer partly because I thought it would help me avoid it.
Funny thing is… engineering is full of writing. Reports, emails, documentation, presentations, and the constant need to explain complex ideas clearly.
Now I’m writing my first book:
The Book of UnCommon-Sense 3D Printing
And that book is becoming the knowledge core behind chat3DP.
This week’s newsletter goes deeper into that story:
How AI didn’t replace my voice — it helped me find it.
How a decade of 3D printing failures, fixes, and hard-earned lessons is becoming the foundation for a new kind of AI tool.
And why chat3DP won’t just be another AI wrapper.
Newsletter #5 drops today at 10 AM Eastern.

Today’s warmup drawing prompt - First Contact 👽!
As we talked about on community night - thanks to curiosity - first contact of alien life is going to wild. And also the variability of life capable of visiting Earth from somewhere else in the galaxy could be immense. So diverse they might not even be able to survive in our atmosphere. That’s why “Al” here is in a space suit filled with a liquid - maybe water? Maybe a specialized brew of ingredients from their planet. Who knows?
So while we have the idea that humans will be in spacesuits and landing on another planet or meeting up with alien life somewhere else - it might be the aliens in space suits visiting earth. Who knows? maybe soon we’ll find out. Maybe.
It’s fascinating to think about anyway
Shoutout to for being my creativity shaman the last year. Getting back to drawing everyday again.
Off to do more writing and drawing for my book! Link to sign up for details on my first book release below 👇😉👽

Getting closer to my style for “The Book of UnCommon-Sense ”! ✍️✌️👽
The different styles of 3Dprinting I mention in the book. Can you name them?
Excited to take these, scan them, and bring them into on my iPad
…and yes that is a detailed mini alien 👽 on my no.2 pencil!

It’s the Parts that Matter, not the that matters. It’s one of the core principles in my business and in my new book “The Book of UnCommon-Sense ”
Is it fun to get the latest and greatest 3D Printer? OF COURSE! But the user and the part that’s being made makes the difference. I’ve seen people running custom hardware with upgrades that can still make better parts than the most high-end professional model.
We are 3D Printer agnostic here at AG3D. Our question is always “so how are the parts that come off of it?”. If you can’t answer that or even show me a part, then it’s probably not that good.

Getting in my project this week! The deck mount is getting a material upgrade with some of special filament Rizium GF.
the way I do it requires always sharpening that skill set like a blade. This project has been fun sharing with everyone - will have a fun timelapse to share in another 3Dprinting Adventures series soon
I have some settings to dial in on my printer still - but for this project I’m running it anyway! Rizium GFs properties will still outperform the PETG version I have - and there will only be a small amount of cleanup after it’s done.
Have a great weekend 🚀 The Part Detective 🕵️♂️

Let’s have some fun - “What’s the first thing you’ll ask a 3D Printing AI?”
Is it a part problem? Why you keep getting warping? Or just something hilarious to see if it makes the same mistake Humans do?
Leave your real or funny questions below 😁👇
THEM: “How’s your first book coming along?”
ME: “well…”
Writing a book is not for the weak of heart, or those without a need to grind through a task. It’s hard…but I like it. Seeing the end of the road to releasing is exciting!
