Good afternoon, Massachusetts Advocates,
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We wanted to follow up and let you know the great news that both House Bill 4549 and Senate Bill 811, the Massachusetts So Every BODY Can Move bills, have been approved by the Health Care Financing Committee and moved to the next committee ā Ways & Means. This is great timing and shows a clear positive trend! The Ways & Means committee is likely one of the most important steps in this process. A group of us will be hosting strategic meetings at the State House in early February and will request you to fill out our online campaign and reach out to your legislators at that time.
Stay tuned and happy holidays! We have much to be thankful for this year with all your support and positive momentum for this bill.

Exciting News for the O&P Community!
Yesterday, July 17, the Medicare Orthotics and Prosthetics Patient-Centered Care Act was introduced in both the U.S. Senate (S. 2329) and House of Representatives (H.R. 4475)!
This bipartisan, bicameral legislationāled by Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Steve Daines (R-MT) and Representatives GT Thompson (R-PA), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), and Mike Thompson (D-CA)āis a major step forward in protecting patient access to high-quality O&P care.
The legislation would:
- Stops drop shipping of custom orthoses and prostheses
- Exempts O&P from flawed DMEPOS competitive bidding
- Ensures timely access to replacement custom orthoses

AOPA thanks Senators Warner and Daines and Representatives GT Thompson, Bilirakis, Dingell, and Mike Thompson for their support!
This is a pivotal moment for the O&P professionāand weāll need your help to get it across the finish line. Stay tuned for how you can take action and help gain support for this critical legislation.
