I’m stoked 🥳 Down Under is an electric studio and I’m thrilled to be a part of their teaching staff
It feels like it’s been FOREVER since I’ve had the chance to teach real hot yoga & I cannot wait to get back into the classroom with all of you!! 🙏🏻

Stretching’s more fun when you’re with someone!! Right ?? 😉
The #1 rule in my stretch sessions - we don’t take ourselves too seriously
Because the most common obstacle I see with people trying to improve their flexibility is that they force it…
And ‘forcing it’ can look like:
▫️ Holding your breath 🤭
▫️ Reaching as far as you can regardless of how it feels
▫️ Cringing or gritting your teeth to push through a stretch 😬
▫️ Counting down the seconds until it’s over
While forcing it may seem like the most common sense way to improve your flexibility, it’s actually the thing that will hold you back the most.
That’s why in each session we’ll chat, relax, laugh, work, stretch & rest
It’s one hour dedicated entirely to you - where the only thing I’ll ask, is that you do your best to R-E-L-A-X 😌
Take a deep breath.
Inhale what you need need.
Exhale what you don’t.
Then do it again.

Same Stretch 3️⃣ ways
That’s right! Believe it or not, there isn’t just one way to do a stretch
Take Seated Tree (shown here) - a fantastic hips, hamstrings, and lower back stretch
Whether your hands reach your thigh, shin or toes - as long as you remember to:
▫️Lead with your chest (avoid rounding your spine)
▫️Keep your shoulders down & back
▫️Tuck your navel in toward your spine
▫️Reach your belly toward your thigh
Then you’re doing exactly what you need to do to enjoy the benefits of this stretch!
Remember:
✔️Be ok with where you start
✔️Be ok if today feels different than yesterday
✔️Be ok if it looks different than the guy next to you

I’ve got some lower body mobility work for you all to try!👆🏼
This is lil number is great for either:
1️⃣ Pre-workout warm up for hips and hamstrings
2️⃣ Post-workout ‘cool down’ to reduce lactic acid build up after an intense workout
Things to remember:
▫️ GO SLOW - Don’t rush your way through. This ensures you isolate the stretch in each movement
▫️Start with small lunges and go deeper as you feel your body open up with each round
▫️Move through 5-7x on each side

No exceptions and no way will your stretching look the same as someone else’s, which means there’s no reason to compare yourself to anyone else.
We are unique beings with unique strengths, body shapes, backgrounds, stress levels, the list is endless

🔥Hot take🔥 The hardest part about stretching isn’t that it forces your body into uncomfortable shapes.
Nope.
The hardest part about stretching is that it forces you to let time pass with no real tangible agenda 😬 Meaning we’re not shooting for the best time, the longest distance, the most calories burned…
That’s because when we stretch we’re simply asking out bodies to just be…
▫️Be ok with sitting still
▫️Be ok with slowing down
▫️Be ok with being patient
▫️Be ok with just being
Think about it: when was the last time you let yourself just be? No distractions. No agendas. No external goals.
Well here’s your chance to try it out👇🏼
The next time you sit down to stretch, pause when a thought tied to an external affirmation or distraction comes up - for example:
▫️I’m not flexible enough
▫️I suck at this
▫️I’m bored
▫️What’s the point of this anyway?
And when it does, instead of nodding in agreement and calling it quits, what if instead you stayed exactly where you were?
The thoughts will come and the urge to let them win will be strong.
But what would happen if you decided to set them aside for a moment and gave yourself an extra minute (maybe 2) to just be…?
Here’s the thing - you’ll never know unless you try 🤷♀️

You’re not alone! Our hips rarely get enough of our attention and yet healthy hips play a key role in protecting our joints and lower back.
Our hips are monsters, crazy strong and powerful, but like most of us the western world, they have been deconditioned due to years of sitting behind a desk, in a car, on the couch, or only being moved in a forward/ backward motion when we walk or run
In my experience, the key to balancing out my running was always to make sure I took time to train my hips - focusing on both flexibility AND strength.
I filmed a little 20 minute hip mobility stretch sesh for ya 👆🏼 My hips have been SUPER tight as I up my running each week, so this is my way to ensure I’m staying proactive with my recovery 🙏🏻
